About Me

Growing up like most people I baked with my mom and my grandma. Both of them had their talents for baking and I learned some great tips for both of them. I am forever grateful for both of their patience and the knowledge that they shared with me.

Over the years I continued to bake, nothing major but the usual, cookies, cakes a few loaves here and there. Then I took a job managing a local bakery here in Calgary, where I learned so much from the talented ladies who worked there.

This is where I learned so much about baking the basics. Like whipping butter and sugar together to make the perfect cookies. How to tell when the chocolate cake was almost done so it was still shiny on top. When making a vanilla cake that room temperature ingredients were always best. That no matter what you were making, butter would always make it better.

I managed that bakery for 6 years and it was where my love for baking grew. I learned so much from the people I worked with at the bakery. The ladies that I worked with at that bakery will always hold a special place in my heart and I am forever in their debt for teaching me so much.

You will notice I only use whole ingredients in my baking, you won’t see me using lard or margarine, for the simple fact, I don’t like the taste of them. I also try to use in-season products whenever I can.

Thank you for taking the time to come here and read this as well as look at my recipes. If you would like to see a recipe, please let me know, or if you’d like to sign up for my email list to receive the recipe in your inbox, please do so!
