Nothing Say I Love You Like Red Velvet Cake
This is the recipe I get asked for the most, and it has probably been the one that has evolved the most. Every time I make it I think I can make it a little better the next time. This is the 2021 version and may be different the next time it gets posted. People tend to be scared of making red velvet cause they think it will be difficult, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. I find red velvet easier to make than vanilla cake. Red Velvet is my all-time favourite cake. I will always pick it over chocolate or vanilla any day. There is just something about…

Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies For The One You Love
It’s that time of year again where it is all about love. It doesn’t need to be someone you’re in a relationship with, it can be your best friend, co-worker, or yourself. Every year at this time I make these sugar cookies for Kevin. They are unbelievably easy to make and they are so delicious that most times I don’t even get the icing on them before he starts eating them. This year I took an order to make a bunch of these cookies for the team at work, which is why this post is a couple of days late. I was making heart-shaped sugar cookies and royal icing all…

Coconut Lime Crinkle Cookies Have Me Dreaming of Summer
I have been on a citrus kick for the past couple of weeks and I don’t think it will stop anytime soon. This time of year I tend to make a ton of things with citrus, I think it has something to do with the cold temperatures. These Coconut Lime Crinkle Cookies are great for when you are missing your winter trip to anywhere warm, or if you need something for a Cinco De Mayo. These cookies will hit the spot for sure! I normally don’t like coconut, I make things with coconut cause Kevin does, but these cookies I ate more of them than Kevin did. I seriously could…

Lemon Poppyseed Bundt Cake That Reminds You of Grandma
This recipe came along cause I wanted to use this new pan I got. Someone I follow on Instagram was thrifting a few weeks ago, and she showed this beautiful copper pan that was at the local Goodwill. I have always wanted copper pans but the price is too much for a pan, they range from $40 to $60. If you make a lot of bundt pans would be worth it. I however do not, so that is a lot to spend on a pan I will only use maybe twice a year. Anyways, so I got this pan from Goodwill and it was a steal! It was $3.50 and…

Perfect Scones for The Cold, Chai Tea & Cranberry.
We have had some pretty decent weather so far this January, I’m sure now that I have said that it will change. These scones are perfect for when the weather is cold and you don’t leave the house for a few days. If you are somewhere in the world where the weather is cold I would highly recommend making these! The only thing I would change for when I make them the next time would be to use more tea in them. I would seep the milk with 2 or 3 tea bags just to get more Chai Tea flavour. I would also add more cranberries cause why not? I…

The Blueberry Muffin That Will Become Your Go-To
I have been trying to take it a little easy on the baking right now. I still feel like I ate like a savage over the holidays and I should be cutting back a bit still. Enter my favourite blueberry muffin recipe. This is my go-to muffin recipe when I just need to have a snack around that is not loaded with chocolate. You can substitute any berry with this recipe. I have made this with blackberries, and raspberries, and I have even used peaches with it as well. I use the exact same amount as I did for the blueberries and they have always turned out. If I don’t…

You’re Going to Want to Try These Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies.
With the Holiday over I’m sure you thought that some healthy recipes would be coming up. Well sorry to disappoint. To be honest, I don’t have a lot of healthy recipes, and I don’t think that is why people are here. To be fair there is a little bit of oatmeal in this cookie so it is somewhat healthy. This recipe came up as a test and trial for a different post (about how to make your own cookie recipe) that will be coming later on, but I thought it was a good one and I think people will like it. I’m not sure if many of you know but…

The Butterscotch Nut Bar You Need This Holiday
This recipe has been a long trial and error process. When I worked at the bakery we had a square like this and it was Kevin’s favourite. I have been trying to make this recipe like the one that’s used at this bakery and this is the closest I have come to the recipe. Kevin has been the guinea pig trying a lot of different recipes of this, some good, some bad and this was the one that he says is the closest. This will be my last Christmas recipe for 2020. I want to thank everyone for coming and checking out my recipes every week, I really appreciate you…

‘Tis The Season For Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies.
This is the perfect time of year to bust out all crinkle cookies! The chocolate crinkle cookies are great when you are needing a chocolate fix. Red velvet ones are perfect for adding colour to your holiday baking and they taste delicious too! I came across this recipe from Broma Bakery, made it once, and fell in love with it. These cookies are soft and chewy and flavorful. When I make a recipe the first time I make it as exactly as the recipe calls, then I tend to make my edits and tweaks until I get it to what I think is right. This recipe I don’t think I…
